In 1981, while a graduate student in Paris, Issei Sagawa murdered and cannibalized a Dutch woman named Renée Hartevelt. First institutionalized then released without charges on grounds of insanity, Sagawa now lives outside of Tokyo under the care of his brother, Jun, who harbors shocking secrets of his own.
